Professor of Economics
University of VirginiaDavid E. Mills is Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia. He received his B.I.E. with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970 and his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1975. He has taught at Virginia since 1975 and served as Chairman of the Department of Economics from 2000 through 2006.
Professor Mills' research focuses on pricing strategies, technological competition, vertical relationships, and antitrust policy. He is the author of numerous articles on these subjects. He has received research grants from the Bankard Fund for Political Economy, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Earhart Foundation, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Wilson Gee Institute.
Professor Mills has done antitrust consulting for a number of major corporations including Microsoft, Monsanto, Peabody Coal, Philip Morris, Proctor & Gamble, SmithKline Beecham, and Xerox. He has worked on cases involving monopolization, vertical restraints, predatory pricing, and collusion.
